Not sure how it works? Read our frequently asked questions:
Am I eligible for a tank solution?
All current owner/occupier residential customers of South East Water are eligible. Payment plan options are subject to approval and terms and conditions do apply.
What is a site assessment?
A site assessment is when a licensed plumber visits your home to discuss your tank options and provides all the information you need to make an informed decision on the tank solution that is right for you. All site assessments include a comprehensive quote on your tailored rainwater tank solution and the $100 fee is redeemable against your tank purchase. However, if you elect not to go ahead with the quote you will need to pay the $100 fee.
What payment plan options are available?
To assist with the upfront financial costs of your rainwater tank solution, residential customers can enjoy the convenience of a 12 or 24-month interest free payment plan*. Alternatively, you can pay for your rainwater tank solution upfront via credit card or cheque.
What options do I have for installation?
While you can just purchase a rainwater tank from South East Water, we recommend having a licensed plumber install it for you. This is extremely important if you are considering connecting your tank for indoor uses such as flushing toilets or filling your washing machine. You can choose your installation package to include basic garden use, premium garden connection or indoor installation.
Do I need a permit for my tank?
While rainwater tanks up to 1.8 m in diameter and 2.1 m high do not generally require a permit, local planning laws and council regulations do vary. Contact your local council to ascertain whether a permit is required. Check your local Council website for further information and contact details.
Am I eligible for a rebate?
Under the Victorian Government’s Water Smart Gardens and Home Rebate Scheme, your rainwater tank could be eligible for a rebate of up to $1000*. To qualify, the building permit for your home needs to have been issued prior to June 2005. Click here to find out more
An additional rebate of up to $500 is also available through the Federal Government.
What type of tanks are available?
We offer steel and poly tanks.
Poly tanks are manufactured using high quality UV-stabilised polyethylene. Poly tanks are strong, durable and designed to withstand Australia’s harsh conditions.
