What is Class A recycled water?
Recycled water is effluent treated to a standard appropriate for a particular use and benefits the community by conserving the valuable drinking water supply. Although, Class A is not subject to water restrictions it is a precious resource that should not be wasted.
What is it suitable for?
Class A has the highest level of treatment and is suitable for uses where direct contact with spray occurs.
- Irrigation of sports grounds, parklands, lawns, trees, garden beds, food and non-food crop
- Dust suppression and road works
Class A recycled water not suitable for
Class A should not be used for the following purposes:
- Drinking
- Cooking or other kitchen purposes
- Bathing and showering
- Filling domestic swimming pools and spas
- Evaporative coolers
- Children's toys
How is it delivered?
Large water tankers deliver the water directly to the customer in quantities of between 22,000 – 25,000 Lts. Appropriate storage on site is necessary.

What are the guidelines for use of recycled water?
Before you can order Class A recycled water there are important steps that must be taken. These steps have been developed in conjunction with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA). South East Water will only supply customers who fulfil all controls.
Steps 1-4
- Call South East Water for an initial enquiry on 9552 3615.
- If appropriate we will send an information pack including a customer registration form.
- Management controls are supplied and a site assessment visit may need to be arranged.
If the site and conditions are suitable the Customer Registration is approved and a Tanker Service Agreement can be signed between parties. Arrangements can then be made for delivery.
