National Water Week 2009

To celebrate National Water Week 2009 (October 18-24), we held two great competitions which channelled student creativity into promoting water conservation. A huge thank you to all the schools that participated.

In response to the competitions we had some fantastic, original and inspiring pieces that are now available here for you to view from the comfort of your own desk. Watch, learn and be inspired by the students of Melbourne.

During National Water Week, students from Elwood College and Upwey High school were joined by their teachers, family and friends at Federation Square to see their work up on the big screen. Derinya Primay School students also visited South East Water for a special screening of their documentary to a captive audience of our staff, even performing an impromptu rendition of their song, H2O.

We know that out there in the South East Water region there are some great schools doing an amazing job of being ‘blue’. From buckets under bubbler taps to rainwater tanks flushing the toilets to making sure students use the half flush, our schools are fantastic water savers.

Water conservation and teenagers generally don’t mix. South East Water knows that teenagers are one tough audience, but we’re just not cool enough to get the water conservation message across. So who better to call on for help than teenagers themselves!
