DIY Diversion System
Permits are not required in sewered areas for these simple greywater diverters available at good hardware stores and water conservation retailers.

These systems have a filter mechanism located outside the house. Permits are not required for a filtration system.

Diversion With Treatment System
Diversion and treatment systems are more complex and vary from highly mechanised systems, such as aerated wastewater treatment systems (AWTS), to sand filters. Council permits are required.
