How can I apply for the Hydration Station?
There are two ways in which you can apply for the Hydration Station
- as an in-kind donation for events that meet our in-kind criteria; or
- for a hire fee where events do not meet our in-kind criteria
Ineligible opportunities
South East Water will not consider hiring the Hydration Station for:
- Events which can discriminate against any person(s), organisation(s) or group(s)
- Events that conflict with the Water Industry and Government Policy
- Political parties, lobbyist groups
- Events that create environmental hazards
Organisations must submit their application at least 4 weeks prior to the event taking place.

Hydration Station Criteria (for in-kind provision)
When applying for in-kind provision of the Hydration Station you need to meet the following criteria:
The event must take place in South East Water’s licensed boundary area (Please refer to MAP)
The community benefits from the event For example the event: a. provides information, knowledge or services to the community; b. provides entertainment, opportunity for social interaction, supports community interests; or c. celebrates public holidays or cultural days of significance
The event is between 4 hours and 3 days long with expected numbers of 500 patrons or more
There are promotional opportunities and benefits for South East Water These may include: a. branding and promotional opportunities e.g. signage, newletter etc. b. provision of event space for our community education display
The event is of a non-commercial nature (any revenue raised used is to cover event costs, is diverted to charity or back into the event for future years)
Upon receipt of your request, your application will be assessed and you will be contacted for further information as required. Applications will be assessed on a case by case basis and in chronological order. You will be notified of the review outcome within one week of your application being received.
Successful applicants need to sign a formal letter of agreement, clearly detailing the needs and expectations of both parties. Decisions regarding the Hydration Station will be made at South East Water’s discretion.
Ineligible opportunities (for in-kind provision of the Hydration Station)
South East Water will not consider in-kind provision of the Hydration Station for:
- Events that fall outside South East water’s licensed boundary area. (Please refer to MAP)
- Primary/secondary schools that are not accredited Water Learn it! Live it schools.

- Events that only have connections to rainwater tank or bore water. (In this circumstance, events may still be able to apply if they are willing to test the water by an approved laboratory 48 hours prior to the event or connect to a water tanker).
- More than THREE local council community events per year, per council per Hydration Station (located in South East Water’s area)
- Events that have less than 500 people in attendance
- Events that run more than three days
- Events that run for a duration of less than four hours
- Events which discriminate against any person(s), organisation(s) or group(s)
- Events that conflict with the Water Industry and Government Policy
- Political parties and lobbyist groups
- The organisation has products or services that are harmful to the environment
- Foreign charities
- Events that create environmental hazards
- Events that increase the likelihood of damage occurring to the Hydration Station. These include: raves, outside/indoor dance festivals and dance parties
- Commercially-charged events.
This type of application will be assessed on an individual basis.
Please note the Hydration Station may be available for hire for a fee of $1,000.00 (per event) if your event does not meet the above criteria.

Hiring the Hydration Station
What’s the standard fee for Hydration Station hire?
The cost of hiring the Hydration Station is $1,000.00 per event.
Hiring of the Hydration Station includes:
- Delivery set up and connection of Hydration Station to a mains water supply (where available)
- Disconnection from mains water supply and pick up of Hydration Station upon completion of the event
The details required for hiring the Hydration Station include:
- Name of organisation, event, activity, etc
- Location of event. Please list suburb and Melway reference.
- Purpose of event
- Timing and duration of the event
- Expected numbers of attendance
- Key contact
- Preferred set up and dismantle times
- Map and location of Hydration Station
- Security provision (for overnight bookings)
- Location of reticulated water
- Copy of public liability insurance
